Pink Opal

Only one location for pink opal has so far been discovered in Australia .
Whilst prospecting the area surrounding our Mookaite mine, we discovered this beautiful stone.

Geologically, it is an opalised radiolarite that has been permeated with iron solutions to give it the bright pink colouration. It occurs as a horizontally lying seam that changes in thickness and colour variation. Some has attractive swirls and bands with alternating shades of pink.

Another feature of this new discovery is the associated occurrence of brecciated pink opal.
