CAR102. Fossil stromatolite slab, polished on one side.
Carnegia wongawolensis. These rare stromatolites are from the “Windidda Formation”, Earaheedy Group, Western Australia. They usually occur as weathered out nodules formed by branched, irregular columns. The environment they grew in was possibly freshwater algal marshes. Location is near the town of Wiluna, Western Australia.
Age is Palaeoproterozoic (1.6 to 2.5 billion years).
